Google Ads Video Announcements

Google Ads Video Announcements

Google Ads have been rolling out the updates following their marketing live stream. So much so it’s difficult to keep up! Something we’ve really seen a lot more of are Google Ads video announcements. Not quite up to scratch? This is where we come in!

Related Video Extensions

Related video extensions are now globally available to all advertisers within Google Ads! This will allow you to show 2 to 5 related videos below your video ad on the Youtube Mobile app. What are the benefits of these you ask? Well… Let me tell you.

  • They extend your message beyond your ad, providing the user with more information and you with the opportunity to really promote your business.
  • They’re a great way to keep the user engaged with additional content.
  • This extension type pairs great with mobile devices by leveraging space below the video ad when user’s hold their device vertically.

Upgrading To Video Action Campaigns

When advertising for Youtube via Google Ads, you can build Trueview for action campaigns. Trueview for action campaigns are designed to help drive user engagement through the implementation of prominent calls to actions, headline text overlays and an end screen to your video ads.

However due the ever evolving customer journey, Google have announced that they will be scaling this campaign types best features with Video Action campaigns and starting early 2022, TrueView for Action campaigns will automatically upgrade to Video Action Campaigns.

If you want to be prepared for this upgrade, Google are recommending creating new Video action campaigns by using the responsive ad group type during the campaign set-up.

The option to create Trueview for Action campaigns will still be available until 30th September 2021 and existing TrueView for action ads will continue to run until early next year.

Optimisation Score Expands To Video Action Campaigns

If you already run search campaigns, then you are likely already aware of optimization score. If not, it’s essentially determined by Google’s recommendations on how you can optimize your campaigns. With Google saying it is an estimate of how well your Google Ads account is set to perform.

Initially this feature was primarily available for Search, Display and Shopping, but now Google is rolling it out for video as well!

It will follow the same premise as what you are already used to with your other campaign types, this being that your optimization score will range from 0% to 100%. With 100% meaning that Google predicts your campaign is set to achieve it’s full potential.

In addition to general optimization recommendations, Google has also added recommendations for video action campaigns focusing around what you can implement to follow best practice.
